Seven Teams Set to Compete for 2024 GCAC Title

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA - April 16, 2024 – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) 2024 Track and Field Championship, hosted by Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, will be held April 19-20 at Lee Hedges Stadium. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased online or at the gate on event days. Learn more about each school, the host, and the events at the Track and Field Championship

Athletes from Dillard University, Fisk University, Philander Smith University, Rust College, Talladega College, University of the Virgin Islands, and Wiley University vie for championship titles and accolades.
 
As part of the 2024 championship, Shreveport's Robert "Supermann" Blount will host "Fit for Life Friday" for local youth. The event takes place Friday, April 19, at Lee Hedges Stadium and includes activities that promote movement and good health, including line dancing. Fit For Life is a non-profit organization in Shreveport, Louisiana, dedicated to improving the health, fitness, and wellness of all Americans, especially those in the Ark-La-Tex community.
 
The GCAC 2024 Outdoor Track and Field Championship will be streamed live on the GCAC Network on HBCU+. Fans can download the app on Android, Apple, and streaming TV devices for free and catch all the action.
 
The Championship kicks off Friday, April 19, with the men's and women's 200-meter dash at 11 a.m. and 4x800-meter relays at 12:15 p.m., followed by field events.

About the GCAC
The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The GCAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Oakwood University (AL), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas) and Wiley University (TX).
