As part of the GCAC 2024 Track and Field Championship, local youth were treated to a morning with Shreveport celebrity Robert "Super-Mann" Blount for Fit for Life Friday. He spoke with high-school students from Minden, Caddo Parrish, and the Shreveport area about life's endless possibilities when they remain serious about their education and relentlessly pursue their dreams. Super-Mann was joined by one of his clients, Yalisha, who is also a weekend anchor at KTAL 6 News (Shreveport). She talked about her quest to become a competitive bodybuilder, and her journey to becoming a reporter. GCAC Commissioner Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes also welcomed the students, some of whom were from her alma mater, Minden High School. Fit For Life Friday ended with line dancing.
"This was such a great event," said Baker Barnes. "Our community engagement and outreach activities are always fun and give us an opportunity to listen to the needs of the communities we serve. I'm grateful for the work of Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission to connect us with Super-Mann and bring this initiative to life."
