Wiley Wins GCAC Regular Season Title, Earns Top Seed in GCAC 2024 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship

JACKSON, Miss. – Wiley University Wildcats have won the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season Title and the No. 1 seed in the GCAC 2024 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship. The double-elimination tournament, presented by Hank Aaron Sports Academy and Colombean Coffee, will take place at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, Miss. General admission is $10 per person. Tickets for the championship are available online and at the admission gate.
No. 1 seed Wiley Wildcats (18-3, 24-17) ended the regular season on a five-game win streak, taking two of three games from Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and sweeping Philander Smith University. The Wildcats will take on the No. 8 Philander Smith Panthers (2-19, 2-30) at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
The Talladega College Tornadoes (17-3, 32-15) are the No. 2 seed and will take on the No. 7 Oakwood University Ambassadors (2-19, 2-33) to cap off day one. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Defending champions Dillard University Bleu Devils enter this year's tournament as the No. 3 seed and are riding the wave on a 10-game conference winning streak. They will take on No. 6 seeded Tougaloo College Bulldogs at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rounding out this year's bracket is another rematch from the end of the regular season with No. 4 SUNO Knights (12-8, 16-19) battling No. 5 Rust College Bearcats (10-11, 14-31). SUNO, the GCAC's new kids, recently took two of three games from the 2023 Regular Season Championships and Championship Tournament Runners-Up Bearcats.

The GCAC 2024 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship kicks off Tuesday with the Welcome Reception sponsored by Hank Aaron Sports Academy on Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m.
