Marshall, Texas – Playing in Texas for the third straight series, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Wildcats of Wiley University at Airport Park in a doubleheader this afternoon. CBC (7-5) swept the first two games, taking game one 3-2 before winning game two 9-6 over Wiley (2-10).
GAME ONE – CBC 3, WILEY 2
Wiley jumped on starter Josh Albat in the first inning, scoring two unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead after one. An error in the second got CBC on the board and a Jaxon Kirkhuff double in the fourth tied the game at two. Cade McBride would single in a run in the fifth to give CBC a 3-2 lead and that was enough for Albat and Jackson Pope to secure the win. Albat went five innings, scattering six hits and two unearned runs with five Ks. Pope earned his first save, throwing two innings of one hit ball with three strikeouts.
GAME TWO – CBC 9, WILEY 6
Wiley scored first again in game two, leading 1-0 after one inning. CBC scored twice in the second on a passed ball and a single off the bat of Cade McBride before Wiley tied the game at two in the second. Danilo Taborda singled home two runs in the third to make it 4-2 and Rolando Rodriguez doubled home a run in the fourth to make it 5-2. Austin Teal brought in two with a double in the fifth followed by an RBI single by Cade McBride and a double by Ryan Dauphinee to make it 9-2 after five. Wiley would score four in the sixth to wrap up the scoring. Austin LeJeune earned the victory, his second of the season, allowing six hits and two runs with four strikeouts in five innings. Brennan Duhe pitched the final two innings and allowed three hits and four unearned runs with a strikeout.
