JACKSON, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program wound up on opposite ends of the same score in both halves of the doubleheader at Tougaloo, dropping game one and winning game two by identical 7-4 margins.

Rust Top Performers:

• Valentin Jaquez IV claimed the victory on the bump in the nightcap following William Baker's nine strikeouts over the first 4.2 innings with 2.1 frames of scoreless baseball , adding a whiff of his own.

• Kyrent Cole hit .500 for the afternoon, going 2-of-4 with a pair of runs scored, a walk, an RBI, and two stolen bases.

• The duo of Devin Tallington and JaShaun Franks tied for the RBI lead among Bearcats student-athletes at three apiece, combining for three scores, three hits, two doubles, and a free pass plus two steals by the former.

• Matthew LeBlanc and Jalik Demar were the other two donning Blue and White with multiple base knocks while Xavier Campbell did not post a hit, he did reach twice courtesy of bases on balls.

• With both teams tied for fifth place in the GCAC standings, Sunday's 1 p.m. rubber match will be vital for determining conference tournament seeding as Rust hopes to spoil Tougaloo's Senior Day.
