CBC Falls To Philander Smith

            Little Rock, Ark. – Playing for the final time in the 2023 calendar year, Central Baptist College men's basketball headed a half hour down the road to Mims Gymnasium for a non-conference matchup with Philander Smith. CBC (9-4) trailed at halftime and nearly came back fully before falling to the Panthers (7-5) 93-78.

            Sage Borbon, Kyle Harding and Jonas Carlisle all posted double figures scoring for the Mustangs while Carlisle led the way in rebounds and nearly tied a program single-game steals record and Harding led the way in assists. CBC struggled shooting, making only 38 percent of their shots while going 5-33 from beyond the arc. The Mustangs were also dominated on the glass, getting out rebounded 47-29.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • Borbon had a career-high 25 on 11-24 from the field
  • Carlisle had 11 points, nine rebounds and six steals, one shy of the single-game record
  • Harding had 18 off the bench and posted a season high five assists
  • The Mustangs only committed 10 turnovers while forcing 19, converting those turnovers into 28 points
  • CBC also won the points in the paint battle 48-46

            CBC is off until Jan. 5 when they wrap up their non-conference schedule with a visit from Cumberland University. Tipoff from Reddin Fieldhouse is slated for 7:30 p.m.
